About Federal Government Affairs:

The Walmart FGA team, located in Washington, DC, plays a crucial role in aligning the company's corporate goals and business objectives with government policy. The team provides valuable input on strategic priorities for Government Affairs and serve as experts on legislative and political matters, ensuring that Walmart's interests are represented before Congress and the Administration. Additionally, we work towards maintaining and expanding the company's license to operate, creating opportunities for Walmart associates and customers worldwide, promoting shared value in the communities we serve, and safeguarding and improving Walmart's reputation.

Position Description : Walmart is seeking paid, temporary associates (interns), to provide research, logistical, project, and strategic support for our Federal Government Affairs team focused on legislation, public policy proposals, and local or national political developments relevant to the organization's mission. We are looking for two summer temporary associate, from June to August for a total of 12 weeks, 40 hours/week.

Duties may include:

  • Attending Capitol Hill, agency, and think tank hearings and briefings.

  • Providing an overview of hearing/briefing outcomes

  • Developing policy briefings, memos, and other communications

  • Monitoring and analyzing the impact of new legislation, regulations, and policies on the organization

  • Collaborate with other departments within organization to ensure alignment and coordination of efforts

  • Contributing to complex and time-sensitive deliverables and programs

Minimum Requirements:

  • Interest in policy - making and political procedures

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program majoring in political science, public policy, or international relations

  • In your Junior or Senior year of college or a recent graduate

  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

Minimum Skills Required:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Strong verbal and writing skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to multi - task

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. The hourly wage range for this position is $25.00-$46.00*

*The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.

Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
