The Data and Artificial Intelligence Risk (DAIR) team is looking for a highly driven change agent who demonstrates integrity, drive and courage to lead the design and execution of the DAIR management program—ie. be a change agent for data driven decision making!

As a member of the team, you will be directly contributing the operationalization of data and AI risk at the organization, while working with a collaborative team of inspiring professionals to help deliver the Enterprise DAIR Program objectives across our footprint.

What you'll do in this role?

Leads and oversees a team within the Data & AI Risk (DAIR), GRM group ensuring the Enterprise Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Risk strategies, implementation program and mandated activities are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Job Requirements:

  • Lead and drive a customer focused, data driven culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • Help VP, Data & AI Risk to shape the Enterprise Data and AI Risk strategies

  • Lead the design and operationalization of the DAIR program related to 1) metrics, 2) training, change management and communications; 3) project management (coordination and reporting) for OSFI, Audit, and Judicious Projects. Scope of work includes but is not limited to the following:

Metrics:

  • Provide leadership and strategy for the development and maintenance of comprehensive data and AI risk metrics to cover the full data risk and AI risk taxonomies

  • Be up to date with industry best practices and standards for measuring data and ai risk-be well versed in KRI methodology and practice

  • Ensure metrics (and therefore associated data) is meaningful and accurate, and provides leadership with insights

Training, Change Management, Communications:

  • Create the strategy and roadmaps for communications (both internal and external), education, change management, and training

  • Lead the development and execution of change management and communication campaigns to drive understanding and adoption of Data and AI

  • Identify priority businesses and areas for change management, training and education opportunities

Project Management

  • Responsible for project plan, risk and issue tracking of key deliverables for operationalizing program (including managing/tracking Regulator and Audit deliverables)

  • Help assist judicious projects, as required

  • Proactive and consistent relationship and stakeholder management to ensure timely delivery of commitments

  • Develop strong partnership with other risk functions and business partners to collaborate on best practices and ensure a strong reliance model

  • Ensure that own and his/her team’s day-to-day activities are conducted in a manner consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Socialize the Bank’s risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout his/her team.

  • Create an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

  • Exercise sound judgment in identifying, reporting, and escalating risks or issues to senior management

  • Lead a high-performance team-this is a people manager role

  • Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; informing vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.

  • Foster an inclusive and collaborative team environment, and prioritize team’s goals

  • Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment

  • Assist with data risk management activities and participate in data risk management oversight where required

Job Responsibilities:

  • 10+ years of experience in business/financial/consulting services; experience in risk or audit would be an asset, but not required

  • Practical experience with: metrics, reporting, project/program management, change management, communication and/or training

  • Curious and proactive learner able to solve complex problems, multi-task and manage changing priorities

  • Strong social skills, able to effectively build relationships and collaborate with partners

  • Strong organization, stakeholder management, relationship management skills and adaptability to manage ambiguity

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage large and diverse audiences

  • Experience in creating and developing presentation materials and informing with Senior Management

  • Outstanding presentation skills with the ability to develop engaging decks and graphics

  • Strong Microsoft Suite experience (Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Spanish language fluency, (written & verbal) is an asset
