Underwriting Analyst (Hybrid)

Hybrid role with 1 - 2 days per week in office and remaining days' work-at-home, remote setting*.

PRIMARY PURPOSE : To provide property, liability and/or workers' compensation underwriting and related services to clients and/or marketers within delegated authority.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyzes, rates and approves underwriting referrals in a timely manner according to underwriting authority.

  • Liases with assigned customers and is responsible for timely and professional responses to underwriting/related requests and questions.

  • Maintains detailed underwriting records.

  • Reviews submissions and referrals with supervisor or designated underwriting referral contact as needed.

  • Acts as a liaison with other departments and partners including customers, Sedgwick/Pools, claims, loss control, and accounting departments as well as reinsurers and marketers.

  • Assists in analytical and administrative projects as assigned.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Travels as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensing

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university preferred. Valid driver’s license required. Underwriting or other insurance training preferred. Property casualty insurance agent license preferred.

Experience

Four (4) years of insurance underwriting/related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Underwriting experience with public entity pools and their respective exposures and coverages preferred.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Solid math skills including the ability to calculate figures accurately and efficiently

  • Analytical and interpretive skills with strong attention to detail

  • Ability to reason, solve practical problems, and interpret a variety of information and instructions

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office and other system products

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Ability to create and complete comprehensive, accurate and constructive written reports

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies
