Manager, Underwriting and Claims

What the day will look like

  • Manage the claims duties for the Client:-

  • Take lead in the management of claims, make decision for claim settlements

  • Manage claims from registration until claims conclude

  • Appoint adjusters/lawyers, work closely with them and other stakeholders throughout management of claims

  • Booking of reserves and arrange claim/fees payments

  • Update claims system and claims spreadsheet

  • Ensure claims fall within policy terms and conditions

  • Provide reporting to the Finance managers in line with their monthly requirement

  • Ensure all claims are managed on a timely basis and in accordance with any protocol/guidelines as agreed

  • Ensure all payments are made and collection of RI recoveries on timely basis

  • Prepare and issue appropriate documents and invoices, if required

  • Perform reporting to the Client and provide recommendations for claim settlement and management, develop and maintain a good working relationship with the Client

  • Perform other duties such as managing captives as instructed by the Manager

    Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the insurance industry

  • Experience and knowledge on general insurance, in particular liability claims knowledge will be advantageous

  • Possess professional insurance qualifications, E.g. ACII or ANZIIF

  • Good communication skills for engaging with clients, third parties and colleagues alike

  • An ability to meet tight deadlines around reporting deadlines

  • A team player is required in this environment to support the wider client service team ethic

  • A desire to continuously improve the efficiencies of the role and enhance the processes
