Amazon Senior Data Engineer - Innovate with a Startup in AWS, Global Compliance Intelligence in Seattle, Washington

Do you want to innovate technical solutions that can provide positive impact in the world?

Come join our new teams in AWS, you’ll help us design and develop solutions that enables AWS to expand our operations into new data centers worldwide. Our solutions will support programs in sustainability and compliance, and build a platform that will extend to first-class AWS services. You’ll join our team in AWS Security Assurance, collaborating with engineers designing solutions at massive scale.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will join the ranks of a large and growing community of senior engineers who are redefining how distributed systems are scaled and operated. In this role, you will have ownership of an end-to-end development of data engineering solutions to complex questions and you’ll play an integral role in strategic decision-making with our teams of software developers, business intelligence engineers, and data engineers. You believe in high standards for code quality, code reviews, testing, and operations, and help develop engineers in GTPC and beyond. You believe technical standards are a mechanism for achieving results and are committed to contribute to Amazon’s overall technical architecture and engineering practices.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of data engineering experience

  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

  • Experience with SQL

  • Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating large data warehouses

  • Experience with AWS technologies Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, SNS, SQS, EMR, Kinesis, Lambda, Lakeformation, IAM etc.

  • Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases etc)

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

  • Experience mentoring team members on best practices

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $123,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
