About the Team

Machine Learning for Financials and Document Intelligence is responsible for the architecture and development of the machine learning technologies underpinning one of Workday's fastest-growing lines of business. Our work is a blend of large-scale data processing, battle-hardened machine learning methodology, and microservice design that places craftsmanship at the forefront of everything we do. We are responsible for our Document Intelligence platform as well as building intelligence into the heart of the Workday Financials product suite.

About the Role

As an engineer on the ML for Financials and Document Intelligence team, you will have the opportunity to tackle sophisticated problems, which comes with developing and delivering global critical enterprise software using your expertise in design, coding, algorithms, and modeling. Your primary focus will be to:

• Build tools, technologies and platforms for productizing Machine Learning models in business-critical Enterprise software
• Work closely with Data Scientists and product managers to take services from inception to production
• Takes ownership for finding creative solutions that move projects forward
• Analyze, design, program, debug, and modify software improvements
• Take initiative, exhibit creative thinking, have the determination to turn data into real-life insights
• Mentor and guide other engineers
• Write elegant code that exemplifies standard methodologies for automation, observability, testing, and service interaction using design patterns, object orientation, and machine learning frameworks

• Work together with team mates on code reviews, knowledge share, hackathons, etc.

   

About You

Basic Qualifications for Principal

• 6 or more years experience with an object-oriented or functional language such as Python, Java, Scala, etc.
• 5 or more years of confirmed experience with production software development lifecycle methodologies

• 3 or more years experience with applied Machine Learning

   

Basic Qualifications for Senior

• 4 or more years experience with an object-oriented or functional language such as Python, Java, Scala, etc.
• 4 or more years of confirmed experience with production software development lifecycle methodologies

• 3 or more years experience with applied Machine Learning

   

Other Qualifications

• Strong sense of ownership and delivery of finished products. A balance between craftsmanship and the need to ship products to customers
• Leads a team in translat ing business use cases into concrete software problems, applying innovative technologies and consistently balances algorithmic elegance with engineering considerations such as scale and maintenance and overhead
• Active and influential contributor in the design of systems and services, accounting for stability, scalability, performance and observability as first-class considerations
• Proven experience with the development of software systems and use of machine learning algorithms in real-life products
• Must be a strong teammate with effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven experience building a network of multi-functional relationships that represent a source of new information and ideas for the team.

Workday Pay Transparency Statement

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Each candidate's compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. Primary Location Base Pay Range: $172,000 USD - $258,000 USD

Additional CAN Location(s) Base Pay Range: $151,200 - $226,800 CAD
