Caris Life Sciences Manager - Molecular Operations, Liquid Profiling (3rd Shift) in Phoenix, Arizona

Position Summary

The Manager of Molecular Operations Liquid Profiling is responsible for the operation of the Molecular Lab within clinical business.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Molecular Liquid Profiling department.

  • Manage annual department budgets.

  • Oversee the completion of department personnel performance reviews.

  • Ensures department metrics are gathered, analyzed, and reported concerning the status of department operations.

  • Support compliance to all applicable regulatory and standard requirements (CLIA, NYS, CAP, ISO, etc.).

  • Achieve department goals and objectives; guides staff members in establishing appropriate priorities; periodically evaluates department and personnel performance in relation to goals and objectives.

  • Consult with the Laboratory (Medical) Director and other professional on staff, as needed.

  • Make recommendations regarding hiring, discipline and promotion of subordinates; authorizes leave and overtime; evaluates and rates employee performance.

  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines and regulations.

  • Represent the Molecular department at Management Review meetings.

  • Develop, train, and mentor staff.

  • Accepts other duties as assigned.

  • Supports the general supervisor in achieving compliance with CLIA, CAP, NYS DOH and ISO 15189.

  • This position has been delegated the responsibility of assessing employee competencies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science related field.

  • 2+ years of Supervisor experience within a clinical lab setting.

  • Conditions of Employment: Individuals must successfully complete pre-employment process, which includes criminal background check, drug screening, and reference verification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a science related field.

  • 6+ years of experience in molecular methods in a CLIA, NYS, CAP, ISO regulated environment.

  • Demonstrate clear ability to explain previous molecular assay experience, including the function of positive/negative controls, sample results, and data interpretation.

  • Possess relevant molecular skill set consisting of molecular fundamentals such as: RNA and DNA extraction, PCR, reverse transcription, and gel electrophoresis. Experience with real-time PCR, microarray, fragment analysis, Sanger sequencing, and Next Generation Sequencing preferred.

  • CLSp(MB), MB(ASCP) certification.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Internet for business use.

  • Drive for Results (Service, Quality, and Continuous Improvement) – Ensure procedures and processes are in place that lead to delivery of quality results and continually reassess their effectiveness to achieve continuous improvement.

  • Requires a high degree of care and attention with strict adherence to defined clinical testing protocols.

  • Communication – Proficient verbal and written communication skills. Willingness to share and receive information and ideas from all levels of the organization in order to achieve the desired results.

  • Teamwork – Commitment to the successful achievement of team and organizational goals through a desire to participate with and help other members of the team.

Physical Demands

  • Must possess ability to sit, stand, and/or work at a computer for long periods of time.

  • May have exposure to blood-borne pathogens, extreme temperatures, high noise levels, fumes and bio-hazardous material/chemicals including formalin in the lab environment.

  • Visual acuity and analytical skill to distinguish fine detail. Ability to pass a visual color discrimination test.

Other

This position requires periodic travel and some evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
