Kelly Services Sr. Test Technician in Novi, Michigan

Kelly Engineering has a GREAT opportunity for a Sr. Test Technician located in Novi, MI!

1st Shift

Experience with NVH or Steering Gear Performance preferred. Willing to train!

Job Purpose:

The System Validation Technician is the project team member responsible for executing the validation testing for the mechanical design for production applications. This position ensures that these tests are conducted safely, efficiently, correctly, and in accordance with published and/or provided specifications and requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Interface with the system validation engineer or project team to support

  • Manage customer technical requirements through requirements tools

  • Interface with the system validation engineer or project team to support:

  • Providing support to manufacturing operations on test failures

  • Maintaining safe, secure, and clean work place by following 5S standards

  • Conducting equipment maintenance and/or repair as applicable

  • Maintaining calibration records for lab equipment and instrumentation.

  • Reviewing calibration records supplied by outside calibration laboratory for lab equipment and instrumentation to insure accuracy

  • Supporting test method development and/or continuous improvement projects

  • Handling material movement as required i.e. fixtures, pallets, and test samples

Validation and Verification Activities:

  • Performing routine testing of production and prototype EPS per the engineering test specification

  • Setup and usage of environmental chambers

  • Responsible for programming and running of programmable logic controllers for durability and performance tests

  • Responsible for test instrumentation set-up, calibration, and usage

  • Instrumentation may include accelerometers, strain gages, load cells, angle encoder, torque transducers and etc.

  • Sets-up equipment and conducts engineering specification test

  • Performs statistical analysis of test data, maintains test records and compiles test data

  • Measures pre/post-test parts and interpretation of results

  • Maintains test equipment by repairing or replacing defective components and perform maintenance schedule

  • Procures necessary consumables in support of testing process

  • Participates in 8D problem solving teams

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree / technical degree / vocational training

Technical Competencies:

  • Knowledge of automotive system development tools Vector CANape, CANalyzer, CANoe, etc. is preferred

  • Experience in problem solving techniques is required

Non-Technical Competencies:

  • Excellent organizational skills and strong communication skills are required

  • Personable nature and strong relationship building skills required due to close working relationship with customer and internally

  • High aptitude for troubleshooting/root cause analysis

  • Proficiency with Microsoft office tools Excel, Word, PowerPoint
