Your Role and Responsibilities

Software Defined Networking (SDN) Business unit focuses on software based networking, an architecture approach that enables network to be intelligently and centrally controlled using software, everywhere from the data center to the campus to the edge. IBM Cloud Pak for Network Automation is an intelligent cloud platform that enables the automation and orchestration of network operations so Service Providers and Enterprise Businesses can transform their networks, evolve to zero-touch operations, reduce OPEX and deliver services faster.

As a Software Development Engineer in Test, you will work closely with product, design and engineering leadership to understand business goals and desired customer outcomes and collaborate with the team to craft automated testing solutions that meet those objectives.

You will:

• Design, develop, and maintain manual and automated testing suites for frontend and backend features.

• Create, execute, and manage test plans, test cases, and test scenarios to ensure comprehensive test coverage of API functionality.

• Identify, report, and track software defects using issue-tracking tools, and work closely with the development team to ensure timely resolution.

• Participate in the design of new features to ensure testability and quality.

• Collaborate in the analysis of production issues to identify root causes and contribute to the continuous improvement of software quality.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Several years of comprehensive experience in Software testing throughout the SDLC, with a focus on end-to-end delivery.

• Proven experience in software quality assurance, with a focus on API testing and test automation.

• Proficiency in programming/scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python, or similar languages used in test automation.

• In-depth understanding of API testing concepts, methodologies, and tools, including RESTful APIs and tools like Postman or similar.

• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience with software testing and bug tracking tools such as Jira, TestRail, or similar.

• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and communicate test results, issues, and recommendations.

• Willingness to engage in on-call rotation.

• Experience with Kubernetes, OCP, Openstack, Working with AWS/Azure Knowledge of network administration and infrastructure a bonus Required Education Preferred
