Senior Software Development Engineer - Amazon Web Services - Security services development for cloud applications and Internet.

Amazon Web Services (Route 53) is offering a Senior Software Development Engineer position in-person in Arlington, VA / Herndon VA / Seattle WA, USA.

In this role, you will be leading a team working on development of AWS services for customers to secure their end-users and devices for their access to Internet domains, web-pages and cloud-hosted applications. These services enable protection for customer devices from Internet based threats by steering their traffic to AWS services that integrate security, privacy and compliance-enabled components and features.

You will architect, design, implement and deploy services and components that provision and manage customer configurations and handle application traffic to implement necessary controls to support secure access to Internet / cloud-based destinations. You will require strong experience developing networking applications / components and possess a strong understanding of networking, security and operating system concepts.

You will collaborate closely with a team of engineers to influence our overall strategy and define the team’s roadmap. You will also help drive the system architecture, spearhead best practices that enable a quality product, and help coach and develop junior engineers. A successful candidate will have an established background in engineering large scale networking software, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment.

Candidates with following skills and experience would be more suitable for this role/position:

  • Strong experience with developing stable and performant networking applications / stacks (implementation, testing and debugging).

  • Excellent in programming (Go Lang or Java or C++), with experience developing high-quality code which is simple, easy to use, enhance, test and maintain.

  • Strong understanding of operating system concepts/technologies including process and memory management, networking and application/system security (HTTPS/TLS/PKI/DNS/VPN/Proxy/Tunnelling/Geneve)

  • Experience developing production XDP / eBPF code for security or networking is plus

  • Prepare technical analysis and solution documents, and articulate them with stakeholders

Amazon Route 53 team works on deep, technical problems that span a variety of core topics in computer science ranging from databases to networking to distributed systems to security. Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

  • Experience with developing cross-platform applications for desktop and mobile platforms with UI(front-end)/middleware/networking features

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
