Amazon Web Services (AWS) EC2 is looking for a highly skilled software engineer to join our software development team in Northern Virginia.

Come join a team engineering core software supporting the massive AWS cloud. We are software engineers that deliver some of the core EC2 systems. Our team is part of the EC2 Core Platform organization and we work on low latency data distribution services. We code in Java, Kotlin, Python and more.

This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months. We don’t like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don’t get paged for the same issue twice.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
