Applied Research Associates, Inc. Staff Frontend Software Engineer in Columbus, Ohio

Description

Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA)’s Computational Multiphysics Group is seeking a driven and talented frontend software engineer for its brand-new office, located at The Ohio State University West Campus. Candidates should have a demonstrated background with a bachelor’s in computer science (or similar field) and at least 3 years’ experience in frontend development and design of user interfaces. You will get an opportunity to work on problems of significant national and international impact while honing your design and development skills. A successful candidate should possess a deep understanding of advanced software development skills, alongside the ability to create visually appealing and user-centric designs. Applicants should also have good communication skills and a solid understanding of user interface mockup and wireframe concepts.

What you’ll do as a Staff Frontend Software Engineer:

  • Create mockups and work to enhance the user interface of a desktop application.

  • Design, develop, and debug a python application.

  • Work with a unique group of highly skilled and experienced mathematicians, physicists, RF/antennas engineers, and computer scientists to solve complex, to create a simulation and modeling software.

Staff Frontend Software Engineer Requirements:

  • Python software development with a good understanding of advanced software constructs and programming concepts

  • Strong object-oriented design techniques and reusable component design

  • Proficiency in industry standard user interface design tools to create mockups and wireframes (Adobe XD, Sketch, Figma, Etc.).

  • Ability to demonstrate visually appealing interfaces with user-centric design principles that you have designed.

  • Good communication skills and self-directed with the ability to work with a fast passed development team.

  • Experience using version control systems, such as Git.

  • Bachelor of Science, Computer Science, or related fields or equivalent work experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in frontend/software development.

  • US Citizen, able to receive and maintain DoD Security Clearance.

Staff Frontend Software Engineer Preferences:

  • Previous work creating designs for desktop applications.

  • Experience with developing designs for advanced data visualization.

  • Familiarity with Qt or PySide.

  • Experience with HTML/CSS concepts.
