In this role you have the opportunity to have a leading role in developing and maintaining market-leading pathology scanner solutions as part of Philips Digital & Computational Pathology (DCP) product portfolio.

Our team leads the system engineering discipline that provides technical leadership to development and maintenance of our pathology scanners. We work on a constant stream of innovative solutions for our users. At the same time, we aim to optimize life cycle management and service practices for our install-base.

Your role:

  • Translate user and business requirements into product requirements and design, while performing systems decomposition and allocating derived requirements to HW/SW elements.

  • Work with our external partners and suppliers to develop and release new solutions or to maintain the existing pathology scanner products.

  • Technically responsible for owning the design and implementing required functionality in a multi-disciplinary setting, creating work breakdown and realistic plans.

  • As part of the Scanner Architecture Team, support the definition of our roadmap, for both new product introductions as well as life cycle management activities for the installed base.

  • Enable and support our team in the quality processes related to medical device development, such as risk management, defect management, and post market surveillance.

  • Actively maintain and advance our system engineering practices.

You are a part of:

The Scanner Systems team consists of 11 top professionals, leading the system engineering activities related to our pathology scanners. You will routinely work with our external partners and suppliers who contribute to our scanner portfolio while internally interfacing with our software and testing teams, as well as our multi-disciplinary supporting functions. By joining this team, you become part of a family of experts with an incredible amount of knowledge on how complex medical systems are specified, designed, released, and maintained.

The day-to-day work involves a very diverse set of activities, from translating user and business needs to system and components specifications to performing safety risk assessments to leading technical teams during design and development activities while supporting our project managers in driving the introduction of our solutions. From supporting the scale-up of our newly introduced pathology scanner to supporting our customers with the adoption of our new scanners

You're the right fit if:

  • A Masters (or PhD degree), preferably in either (applied) Physics, Electrical engineering, Computer Engineering/Science, or similar.

  • At least 7 years of experience as a scientist, architect, system engineer or designer, preferably within the medical industry.

  • Proven experience in systems architecture / systems engineering in a regulated industry.

  • Experience in setting up and executing projects, from a technical perspective.

  • Solid knowledge and experience in rolling out industry standards and regulatory requirements towards development teams.

  • Experience with safety risk management, electrical safety, and EMC compliance.

  • Experience with electrical and SW design is a must, and understanding mechanical design and mechanical systems integration is a plus.

  • Affinity with display technology, technical parameters and specifications related to displays.

  • Very strong analytical skills, ability to understand dependencies within a complex imaging system and breaking it down in manageable tasks & plans.

  • Strong communication skills and experience in creating alignment between broad varieties of stakeholders (internal and external).
